March 3rd, Again

Mon Mar 3, 2008, 12:04 AM
Well, one year ago, apparently I came to deviantArt.

I just happened to login this morning by absolute chance, and I looked at my member since date. Ironically, it was March 3rd when I signed up. That's pretty interesting. Perhaps I didn't have a lot to do back then either like now and here I am now and there I was then.

In any case, I hope people have been doing well. I have been. I've been busy with school of course. So many papers are due this semester. A research paper for an author, about 9 pages long and a History Day Project paper which is about 8 pages long about AT&T's Antitrust break up. Sounds exciting? It actually is.

I have no artistic ability these days. It makes me wonder how I even could that art back then. I took a moment before I logged in to view the vector gallery. There sure is some amazing stuff in there. There is no hope for me to compete with that. So I'll probably remain on the side lines of the art world for even more time. I doubt I'll recover any art soon, if I do, it'll come back during summer break. (Though I might need to get a Job! That's pretty scary.)

Looking on my right, all of those journals are from last year. Maybe this year, I'll post once a month. Maybe. Possibly. Perhaps. Probably not. I've been neglecting this for so long because I feel there is no reason to hope someone will read this or even pay attention to my work at this point after being gone for so long and even before that having such a disappointing gallery.

Anyway, let's not get into such a glum right now. It's a good day. It's been a year since I came here. I'd love to upload some fancy vector I've been working on for a year, but I can't since I didn't do that. Nor could I.

Well, as always, have a good one.

I tried to make a new Vector this morning.

It doesn't work for me anymore. I can't do it well enough to do it anymore. It's really hard to even just sit down and work at it. It's not even that, all of the things I used to do are still there, but their already done. Doing something new is almost impossible.

I want to learn more art-style ways of doing Vector, but I can't just learn from looking at other's work. It just doesn't work out that way.

Well, I saw this, Image.
I thought, wow, thats exactly it is for me right now.

I'm kinda caught up in things in real life, here.
It's like, not being trapped by a cage, but have some really sticky glue on your shoes. It's where you can move, but it takes alot of effort, and ... yeah.
:)

I'm doing okay though.

You all have a good June :D

Some of my buddies were showing some web design stuff.

As you know I'm ... just 'okay' doing vector. But then they ask me to make a logo for them. And my head explodes. I can't do that! It's too hard! And from there I don't think I'll ever do web image stuff. Ever.

It's way too hard for me, I can barely do simple vector stuff.
Have you ever seen what these people go through to make their stuff?
Let me re-enact it for you.
*Open*..*Click*..*Double-Click*..*Save*...*Save Again*..*Done.*

I have no idea on earth how they did that though. D: It's so sad for me too. I really wanted to help, but I'm not good enough. And lately I've been anti-creative. There isn't anything to work from. And just thinking about art... or no. Not art. I love art still. But thinking of 'doing' art gives me a huge headache. It's mind boggling.

D: Somebody help?

Circle/Transparent Layer Trick

[Circle/Transparent Layer Trick]

I was looking at [link]
I was trying to make those think yellow to red bands in the background.

I eventually came up with a fool proof way of doing it, which is to make 6-8 circles, small being yellow, and the largest also being yellow. Each new layer is reduced by 10 opacity, [90, 80, 70.. so on.] Doing it that way, you never really have to mess with hex values to make the color. The color, the gradient, comes from the background color, the deep red.

You never change the color of the first circle, and just make it slightly bigger[or even bigger depending on desired band size.] each time, reduce opacity by 10, and soon enough, you get that nifty band style. ... And then, I merged the layers, and used Liquidify, (I know thats wrong. I can't remember at the moment.) to make the uneven-ness in the circles.

Thats all :D

I've always had a hard time figuring out how the better Vector guys picked their colors. (This is probably an effect that everyone knows, but I just discovered it D:...)

Have a good one!
